Elder Care Services
Program eligibility varies. Please contact the unit for specifics.
The Elder Services Unit assists residents of Kent County who are at least 60 years old, with a variety of programs, including:
Assisted Living Case Management
Medicaid eligible clients receive care in local assisted living facilities at an income-based cost.
Co-Pay
Eligible home-bound clients age 65 and older pay either $4.50 or $7.50 per hour for services of a certified nursing assistant.
General Assessment
Case managers provide complete needs assessments and assistance for elder clients and/or caregivers to develop an effective plan of care.
Medical Transportation
Seniors are provided transportation to doctor, and other medical related, appointments.
Protective Services
Case managers provide supportive services for at-risk older residents referred through the Department of Elderly Affairs.
Waiver Program
Medicaid eligible clients receive home based services of a certified nursing assistant at an income-based cost.
Westbay Caregivers/Friendly Visitors
Homebound seniors or disabled individuals can receive socialization and help with light housework, errands, grocery shopping or odd jobs.

Keeping Seniors Safe
Westbay was recently awarded grant funding from Tufts Health Plan Foundation for the Keeping Seniors Safe program. Seniors who are at least 60 years old, and living independently in Kent County, may be eligible for free assistive technology and various safety equipment, and volunteer, nursing and case management support.

Retired and Seniors Volunteer Program
This program matches senior volunteers with seniors who need some assistance to remain independent and in their homes.
