Westbay Community Action will tailor a presentation to any group who is interested in learning more about childhood lead poisoning.
Childhood lead poisoning continues to be a significant public health issue. Lead-based paint was often used in homes built before 1978. Much of Rhode Island’s housing was built before 1978; therefore, the vast majority of the state’s housing has the potential to have unsafe levels of lead contamination. Although the effects of lead exposure are harmful to everyone, children are especially sensitive to the effects of lead and can develop disabilities if they become lead poisoned.
Anyone interested in the 3-hour Lead Hazard Mitigation course, the free in-home lead hazard assessment and/or any other information concerning lead related issues should contact the Westbay Lead Hazard Education and Outreach Program at 732-4660 x144 or email: cmarchand@westbaycap.org
Note: The Lead Center's latest funding is through December 31, 2010. |
