Katie Shappy

Director of Medical Respite

Katie joined the Westbay team in July of 2023 as a Case Manager for the Medical Respite pilot program. She was promoted shortly after to Director of Medical Respite. She now oversees the Medical Respite program at Hallworth House in Providence, RI, and the Mobile Wound Care community outreach project. She has experience working with the unhoused population, particularly with families in other community settings. She has also spent time working with children in childcare centers and Head Start programs in South County.

Katie graduated summa cum laude from URI with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2019. She was invited to join the MPA program and received her master’s degree in public administration and a Human Resources certificate in 2022. During her time at URI, Katie was selected to receive the David Warren Scholars with High Distinction Award and the Stephen Wood Political Theory Award for sustained excellence in the study of political science and political theory.

Katie has a passion for helping others. She also enjoys spending time with her two children and her two cats. Katie currently resides in Westerly, RI.
